Making the charity run effectively -  behind the scenes help

Histon & Impington Green Spaces depends entirely on volunteers, to run the charity, raise and manage funds, organise education and research, manage the Abbey Fields sites, develop new projects for the future, and making sure that all our helpers have a rewarding experience.

We especially need people behind the scenes, who can help to run the charity and make sure that it is effective in looking after our natural precious green spaces. That means looking after our volunteers and supporters, our funds, our information and more besides. Just a few hours a month can make a massive difference.

Whatever your interests, skills and availability, you can find a behind-the-scenes volunteer role that suits you now or in the future.

We are looking for support in all the following areas, so take your pick!

  • Look after the people

    • Get to know our volunteers - match their interests with the charity’s needs

    • Make sure that being part of the charity’s team is worthwhile and fun

    • Attract a diverse mix of volunteers and members and promote gender equity

    • Organise member and volunteer events, seminars and workshops

  • Manage projects, information or money

    • Manage projects on biodiversity, education and other topics

    • Keep the books or manage the charity’s finances

    • Keep the charity’s information organised – site management records, board minutes, policies, contracts, reports, presentations, photos etc.

  • Help make Histon & Impington Green Spaces an effective, well run charity

    • Use your professional or organisational skills to help run the charity

    • Help to develop and apply the charity’s strategy, policies and plans

    • Organise advice and training to increase the charity’s capacities

    • Organise annual general meetings and elections

    • Join one of the committees that run the charity’s day-to-day activities
