Trustee Board Meeting - May 2024
Following the elections of new trustees at the March AGM, the new Board met for the first time this week.
The meeting was primarily concerned with the organisational arrangements for the coming year and, in particular, familiarising the new trustees with planned activities and how these are delivered.
David Jenkins was elected Chair and Jon Pavey agreed to continue as Treasurer. David notes his main aim in the coming months is to help HIGS move forward with “Our Strategic Priorities”, and cementing its workings as a membership organisation.
It has long been an aim for the charity to be as inclusive as feasible and with this in mind a Task and Finish group was set up to look at how HIGS can best match its volunteers with the activities the charity takes on in the coming year. If you would like to join in the discussion please contact david.jenkins@higreenspaces.org. More generally, anyone who feels they want to contribute to the charity’s activities in one of our committees or working groups, please contact membership@higreenspaces.org.
As many members are aware, the charity has had funding from Thalia WB Community Fund for a sculpture at Croft Close Set-aside. The meeting reviewed the finishing details of the “portal” ahead of its creation.
The possibility of introducing a few small areas of yellow rattle at Long Meadow as a monitored trial was discussed. If this goes ahead some seeds will be sown in the autumn but first there will be baseline surveys. We have a team of flora surveyors in place but, as ever, would welcome anyone interested to join in. If this is for you please contact sitemanagers@abbeyfields.online.
