Our People
Our roots are firmly in the Histon & Impington community with most of our supporters having a strong connection with the villages, many as residents.
We are enthused by wild green spaces; and being able to access these to enjoy nature and enhance the biodiversity in our community.
We look after these wild green spaces in many different ways. For some it is simply by adding their voice as members to make HIGS a vibrant organisation. Others quietly keep paths free from encroaching vegetation or undertake habitat management work.
Some share their knowledge of nature through demonstrations, newsletter articles and guided walks; others help us build a record of the biodiversity at Abbey Fields and elsewhere in the villages.
Our people are a cross section of our community. We have young people from the Primary School contributing to our newsletters and young parents helping with organisation and administration. We have people enthusiastic about showcasing nature to people of all ages, spending time to share their fascination and helping others to learn more about the biodiversity of our community.
Around 20 people are actively involved in managing the charity and leading events and activities. Details of the trustees are here and our organisation arrangements are here. We are keen for others to join with us whether for one-off events or to help shape what we do. There are plenty of opportunities, whatever your personal circumstances!
